I used to angle and fly fish. I haven't much any more. Seem to busy to relax. When I did fish it seemed like I cought a lot more bass and trout in the stream with a fly rod.

I have been fishing with Flies before it was "kool"... I started tying flies in the 70's...
and gave up the garden hackle. Caught many more fish than bait as a result. I live 1/4 mile from the Provo River... blue Ribbon fishery and home to too many land-rover driving Orvis wielding fisherman that clog the Provo now. I still flyfish but never tried for Bass. I love fishing moving water over still water. I'm no purist... my favorite fishing is dry fly fishing late afternoon/early evening 2nd pic is my Old man and I fishing the Wild Strawberry ... He's 83 and ready to go at a moments notice. He likes to go in my $200 Benz Diesel cause it rides so smooth over the dirt roads. Church is for people who don't know about Fly fishing... My Dad died in 1986; he died early - 56. Be grateful. Looks to me your Dad has a strong strain of Native American. My dad, in the last pics I have of him in his hunting outfit and 3 or 4 days beard, looks so Cherokee. No one talked about THAT in our family. When I saw your Dad something clicked and I realized something: The only time Dad was happy was when we were hunting. It was like being in heaven, when we hunted together all over the woods of North Western PA. We used to go for days and days - camp out. I hope he is enjoying the Happy Hunting Grounds. He was ready to go by way of that guy, what's His name. I'm ready too. I'll post his pic when I get it from Mom. Huh, the first time I shot his rifle in 1987, off hand, it was so close to the exact center of the bullseye that the spotter thought I'd missed the target and the backstop. I never had a rifle fit me so well. 700 BDL, 1968, Redfield 1x4, Weaver Mounts.
He wasn't much for fishing though, but he bought me my first flyrod. Last edited by Dieselschlepper; 12-25-2009 at 11:14 AM. |
